Ovoclinic and Ovolearning, together with UAL, are organising the fifth edition of the University Specialisation Diploma in Human Assisted Reproduction

Posgrado diploma universitario

Marbella, 21/07/2025. The assisted reproduction clinic Ovoclinic, together with Ovolearning, its training platform, and in collaboration with the University of Almeria (UAL), have inaugurated the fifth edition of the University Specialisation Diploma in Human Assisted Reproduction, a postgraduate training that will provide students with extensive knowledge, techniques and skills within the field of reproductive medicine.

The programme will consist of two parts, a theoretical mode taught virtually (streaming), combined with cutting-edge practices in person in the laboratories of Ovoclinic, a benchmark in assisted reproduction.

The theoretical area, consisting of a total of 191 hours, will be developed entirely online through the Blackboard platform of the University of Almeria (UAL). This flexible methodology allows students to adapt their study schedule, since the classes are recorded and available for consultation at any time. This facilitates access to students from other countries who wish to participate in the university specialisation course.

The subject matter taught will cover advanced treatments, cellular and molecular biology, immunology, genetics of Human Assisted Reproduction, as well as research methodology, bioethics, psychology, legal aspects, metabolomics, embryo development, patient quality and safety, microbiology and innovative topics such as the use and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assisted reproduction laboratories.

The teaching is carried out by specialists in clinical embryology and expert gynaecologists from Ovoclinic_Ovolearning, together with high-level researchers from the University of Almeria, the Hospital Clínico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca, the University of Murcia (AFRODITA), the INIA-CSIC and the Hospital Universitario del Poniente de Almeria, guaranteeing the highest level of training. Once the theoretical block has been completed, the practical part will take place.

The internship programme, consisting of a total of 131 hours, will be carried out in the Ovoclinic laboratories. In small groups of a maximum of five students, participants will be able to increase their skills and learn the different techniques. The practical sessions include gynaecological techniques and care in Human Assisted Reproduction, such as follicular puncture, embryo transfer and cryotransfer, innovations in endometrial receptivity, and the use of ultrasound techniques. The course also covers laboratory techniques in Assisted Human Reproduction, ranging from andrology (seminograms, seminal capacitation, semen cryopreservation, microfluidic selection techniques and genetics) to embryology (oocyte collection, decumulation, ICSI, vitrification and devitrification of oocytes and embryos, embryo evaluation, sperm cryopreservation, embryo biopsy, and assisted hatching).

The course, which offers a maximum of 20 places, is directed by Dr. Miguel Ángel Vilches Ferrón, embryologist and scientific director of Ovoclinic, and Dr. Diana María Cardona Mena, from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Almería. The training awards 43 ECTS credits (equivalent to 322 total hours).

Miguel Ángel Vilches, Director of Research and embryologist, spoke about this training course: “We are very proud to celebrate this fifth edition of the University Specialisation Diploma. I encourage all students in the field of assisted reproduction to increase their skills and techniques within one of the leading laboratories in human assisted reproduction. It is sure to be a success”.

The pre-registration period will remain open until 30 July. The provisional list will be published on 4 September, with a deadline for complaints until 5 September, and the definitive list will be published on the 11th of the same month. The enrolment period will run from 15 September to 10 October. The course will run from 23 October to 30 June 2026, with timetables on Thursdays and Fridays from 16:00 to 20:00, and Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00.
